Move Over Pikachu, This Charizard Card is Bringing in the Big Bucks!
The world’s most expensive Pokemon card has sold for over $350,000 in an online auction! The rare 1st Edition Charizard card beat the old record by a wide margin.
The extremely rare, 1 of 1, 1st Edition Holographic Shadowless Charizard Pokemon card sold for a record breaking $360,000 to an anonymous buyer back in December 2020.

With a minimum set at $50,000, this treasure brought in 17 bids and ultimately surpassed the previous record holder — a Pikachu Illustrator card that sold for $250,000.

Unlike that Pikachu Illustrator card, which had a PGA grade of 9, the Charizard card boasted a SGC Gold Label grade of 10.
Charizard cards are among the most popular among Pokemon card collectors. YouTuber Logan Paul recently dropped a huge sum of cash on a Charizard of his own … although, not nearly as rare as this one!
So, what makes this card so rare? Not only is it holographic, it’s also a 1st Edition and shadowless. This simply means the ‘frame’ that holds the illustration doesn’t have a pronounced shadow that makes it appear to float above the card.

The more you know!
Would you ever drop large sums of cash on rare Pokemon cards if you had the money?
