The Snyder Cut Is Finally Happening!
Well folks, you did it. After almost three long years, Warner Bros. has decided to release the ‘Snyder Cut‘ of the disappointing Justice League movie.
Zack Snyder released a statement saying, “I want to thank HBO Max and Warner Brothers for this brave gesture of supporting artists and allowing their true visions to be realized. Also a special thank you to all of those involved in the SnyderCut movement for making this a reality.”
Just to refresh your memory …
After his controversial Batman v Superman movie (which we re-reviewed recently), Snyder helmed the follow up, Justice League. Sadly, due to a tragic family emergency, Snyder had to step away from the project. That’s when Avengers director Joss Whedon stepped in.
Whedon was given control of the final Justice League cut after critics said the DC films were too dark. They wanted him to bring some fun and light-heartedness to the film, but it ended up just creating a disaster that just furthered the mess of the DCEU.
In the two and a half years since Justice League’s release, fans have called for the Snyder Cut of the movie. Since Snyder was basically done with the movie before stepping away, he had already completed his vision for how the film was supposed to be.
Snyder recently held a livestream of BvS: Dawn of Justice, where he explained the rocky path. He addressed the ups and downs and the frustration trying to get all the pieces lined up. That sparked a resurgence in the Snyder Cut debate, which has now finally ended.
The Snyder Cut of Justice League will be released exclusively on HBO Max in 2021.
