Kura Revolving Sushi Bars are popping up all over Southern CaliforniaÂ
The Japan-based company most recently opened a new location in Garden Grove, not far from Disneyland. Although it’s already a well-known chain in Japan, Kura is becoming even more popular in California with several locations scattered across L.A. and Orange County. Notable locations include Irvine, Cypress, Brea and Cerritos.

You’ll see right away the dining experience is unlike other sushi restaurants. A revolving belt circles the dining area while carrying an assortment of sushi dishes and treats.
See a delicious-looking dish heading toward your table? Just lift the plate from the belt and its container will automatically open so you can take the food! Each plate has roughly 2-4 pieces of sashimi or whatever it is you grab.
At the end of your table you’ll notice a small slot in the wall. Once you finish your dish, just slide it in there to get it out of the way.
Besides the hands-on approach of eating your meal, Kura rewards you after finishing a dish! Once you dispose a dish though the slot, you’ll sometimes earn a prize. Near each table is a little machine that dispenses various gifts to customers!

Each table has a small, tablet-like screen that keeps track of the number of plates you’ve had. Special sensors keep track of how many plates you pick up and how many are disposed through the slot. The flat prices of each dish are then added up so you have a constant idea of what your bill is looking like.
In case you were wondering, the ‘servers’ at Kura are really only around to answer questions and bring your drinks.Â
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar makes it a point to serve only fresh dishes (kept fresh by their patented containers) that contain no preservatives or additives.

The Kura Corporation has over 400 locations worldwide, mostly in Japan and Taiwan but they are expanding here in the states. They even pioneered the idea of revolving sushi bars back when they opened their first location in 1977.Â
After fine-tuning their methods and technology, Kura believes the experience is now better than ever. With inexpensive prices and a variety of dishes to choose from, you’re in for a fun experience.
