Dominic Fike’s ‘Phone Numbers’ and More!
Looking for new music to add to your playlist as we near the end of Summer? We have you covered! Here are our picks for some of the best new music out now! You’ll add at least one of these tracks to your list.
Brockhampton
Brockhampton is one of the most exciting groups in music today. Featuring a handful of artists including producers, rappers, singers and content creators, they’re ahead of the curve in the industry. Their frontman Kevin Abstract is the most well-known of the bunch, but together they make an unstoppable collective. The group recently released singles from their upcoming album Ginger, due out on August 23rd.Â
‘I Been Born Again‘ & ‘Boy Bye’ are two tracks you’ll wanna hear on repeat. Their sound is unique, their talent is unmistakable and their charm is contagious. While you’re at it, it wouldn’t hurt to check out Kevin Abstract‘s solo debut, Arizona Baby.
Dominic Fike
Don’t let me catch you sleeping on Dominic Fike! The singer-songwriter from Florida is my absolute favorite new artist of the year. October 2018 saw the release of his short but sweet demo, ‘Don’t Forget About Me, Demos’, and is just a taste of Fike’s talent. Since then he’s been making a name for himself in the industry and has even collaborated with our boys in Brockhampton.Â
Fike recently released the single ‘Phone Numbers’ with Kenny Beats and it’s definitely a switch-up from his demo. As we patiently await word on his next full-length album, we’re hoping we see more singles and collabs in the future. ‘Phone Numbers‘ joins Fike’s other recent singles, ‘Acai Bowl‘ and ‘Rollerblades‘.
Oliver Tree
Where to begin with Oliver Tree. He looks like a meme in human form, dresses like he’s from the future and we’re not sure if he’s trolling us all or not. Either way, he makes some of the best music out now. I can quite put my finger on it, but there’s something inherently 90s about his sound.
He’s eccentric, talented and you can’t deny his new single, ‘Introspective’, is a bop. In fact, we’re willing to bet it’ll get some radio play sometime in the near future. That ‘future’, however, is up in the air because Tree is more inclined to work in other aspects of the art including directing music videos, producing and more. It’s hard to tell if he’s going to stick with the music-making. Tree has performed with the likes of Frank Ocean and most recently, Hobo Johnson — one of our favorite new artists.
