Does Avengers: Endgame Involve Our Own Reality?
I know there are plenty of Avengers: Endgame theories on the web, but hear me out. A couple years ago I came up with a wild theory about the then upcoming Infinity War that didn’t end up true. However, recent news of the Disney/Fox merger resparked the idea in my head that may still work for Endgame.
Theory Recap
My original theory from 2017 involved a clever play from both Fox and Marvel Studios. I predicted that they had already pre-filmed cameos from Fox-owned properties such as the X-Men, Fantastic Four and more. Since we knew that Avengers: Infinity War would see Thanos on a mission to collect the Infinity Stones, it would make sense for the Reality Stone being used to wreak havoc upon reality itself. This would justify members from other universes from other movie studios making their way into the MCU, even just for a moment.
Avengers: Infinity War came and went but no cameos and no mind-bending alternate realities. However, just one month before the release of the finale, Avengers: Endgame, the Disney/Fox merger has finally completed. Coincidence? I didn’t think so then, and I don’t think so now!
What We Think Will Happen
Very little is known about Avengers: Endgame but we are almost certain that it will involve the ideas of time travel or journey into alternate realities. The Quantum Realm was introduced in the first Ant-Man film and expanded upon in last year’s Ant-Man and the Wasp. We now know that there is potential for both time travel and delving into alternate realities. This reignites my claim that Thanos, or potentially an Avenger, will cause universes to collide with the help of the Reality Stone. This collision would see the inclusion of the X-Men, Deadpool, or even the Fantastic Four in Avengers: Endgame. Now that these assets are officially owned by Disney, it makes more sense now than ever.
Once again, this major announcement about the Disney/Fox merger comes weeks before the release of Avengers, so it only makes sense. Endgame is rumored to be almost two hours in length, and judging by everything that needs to be done to set the MCU straight after The Snap, the remaining Avengers need all the help they can get. We’ve since made a theory about Dr. Strange’s plan, but now we’re hoping for this one again!

As I’m sure you’ve heard by now, Disney and 21st Century Fox announced their $70 billion merger. This means that Disney, which also owns Marvel Studios, will now own the rights to such other Marvel characters. This includes the X-Men, Deadpool, Fantastic Four and many other related characters. What does this mean for the future of Marvel Cinematic Universe? Well… I have a theory. As ridiculous as it may sound, it’s undeniably intriguing (and possibly stupid), I promise.
The Merger Theory
Buzz started 2 weeks ago when news came out Disney has been secretly proposing buyout of21st Century Fox. Coincidentally, the first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War was released. Some say that these two events are unrelated, but it’s a bit suspicious they happened so close to each other. This got me thinking.
I can’t help but wonder if this is part of Disney & Marvel Studios’ ultimate plan for their grand finale to its 10-year story arc. It’s unprecedented for a movie studio to strategically orchestrate events in the real world. they can use to deliver the ultimate culmination of the MCU movies. In fact, this would be a brilliant marketing strategy!
Avengers: Infinity War
Jumping into the actual movie, Avengers: Infinity War has to do with Thanos, the Mad Titan, trying to acquire all six Infinity Stones. With all six stones, Thanos has the potential to alter the reality of the universe. If he does this, and I’m assuming he will since basing an entire decade of movies around this potential scenario, he can bridge an infinite amount of universes together! Why is this so important? Here’s where my crazy theory comes in.
If universes collide in Avengers: Infinity war or the untitled Avengers 4, this can legitimize a crossover between the established heroes and the ones that currently belong to Fox. Now, I have this crazy feeling that this is already in the works. Since we know for a fact that the merger is in process, we can all start to get excited about seeing more of our favorite Marvel heroes! But I think we’ll get that a lot sooner than we think.
My prediction is that in Avengers: Infinity War we will be blindsided with an already-filmed crossover due to the fact that talks of the merger have been going on for some time before the announcement. If they really planned the announcement of the merger to happen now, shortly before the release of the Infinity War trailer, they must be trying to throw us for a loop, right? Infinity War is coming out in May, so perhaps they timed the release to happen after the merger announcement so that it will make sense if the X-Men, or the Fantastic Four happen to show up, even for a small cameo in the film.
I guess we have to wait to see the movie to find out! Crazy? Most likely. But a guy can dream!
