Binge Any of These Great Podcasts to Pass the Time

New to the world of podcasts? Looking for something to kill time or just a good program that’ll teach you something new? There are way more podcasts out there than you’ll ever listen to and a very small percentage of them are worth the time. Here are 6 podcasts that’ll leave you intrigued, laughing on the floor, or just plain entertained.
SERIAL
Serial is one of the most well known podcasts in the country, and for good reason. Paired with incredibly interesting subject matter as well as extremely satisfying narration by Sarah Koenig. The podcast mostly deals with the legal system and although they recently switched up their format for Season 3 in which they tackle a new topic per episode, I highly recommend the first season for an incredible story that spans all 12-episodes. In the first season, Koenig follows a tip about a possibly mishandled case that left an all around good guy behind bars for a very long time. But what will she find out once she starts digging?
Recommended Listen: All of Season 1
THE RALPH REPORT
There are plenty of daily news podcasts to choose from, but if you’re anything like me, then you’ll want one that puts a fun spin on things. Ralph Garman hosts The Ralph Report alongside “vice-host”, Eddie Pence. They go over the day’s top entertainment stories and sometimes get into bouts over the stupid holidays that the internet celebrates. Ralph is known from his work in Los Angeles morning radio over the span of two decades on the Kevin and Bean Show, but now he hosts his own version of his popular K&B segment, the Showbizz Beat. Each episode also includes a one on one interview with one of Garman’s celebrity friends.

S-TOWN
S-Town is by far one of the most incredibly fascinating podcasts you’ll ever listen to. Every time you think the story can’t get any more bizarre, you’re left surprised at the end of each episode. This story starts out as a run-of-the-mill murder mystery story, but by the end of the first episode it takes a hard left and you’ll be left wanting more. Without any spoilers I’ll just say that if you decide to give S-Town a try, at least listen up until the end of Episode 2. That plot twist will make you audibly gasp.

CONAN O’BRIEN NEEDS A FRIEND
We all know Conan O’Brien from his stints on late night television, but he’s switching things up in a major way in 2019. He’s transforming his popular late night talk show into multiple digital formats that include a smaller, shorter televised show as well as a new podcast series that posts once a week. This is Conan’s first try at podcasting but he does a great job talking to his famous friends in a natural and enjoyable way. He doesn’t interview them like he would on his talk show, instead he just lets them talk and they riff off of each other, similar to Marc Maron and Joe Rogan.

REPLY ALL
I randomly discovered the Reply All podcast by chance one day when I was browsing the web and I am so glad I did. Reply All describes itself as “a podcast about the internet”, but it’s more about internet culture in general. From the history of websites to tracking down internet scams to their very root, the Reply All crew will do a deep dive into almost any topic. These investigations result in incredible fun facts, laugh out loud moments and sometimes some sad stuff. My favorite segment in the show is when they pull a complicated meme from the internet and go around the room to determine who understands what it means. Then they’ll dissect the meme and explain where it originated and how it makes sense.
Recommended Listen: Long Distance Parts 1&2
BODEGA BOYS
In a world of serious and professional podcasts, the Bodega Boys outmatch them all. These guys have the funniest podcast in the world and by far. Desus and Mero are two friends from the Bronx who commentate on current events from politics to pop culture. Imagine that you’re hanging out with your best friend joking about anything and everything. That’s what Bodega Boys is. Each episode will make you tear up with laughter and by the end of each one, you’ll feel more and more like you’re from NYC too.
