Netflix’s American Vandal Season 2
Let me start off by saying that I absolutely loved Season 1 of Netflix’s American Vandal. The writers found a way to take a ridiculous premise and give it an incredibly intriguing documentary treatment complete with emotion and depth. I knew going into Season 2 that it would be tough to top the mystery of the dick graffiti. Here’s what I thought.

The writers decided to take the ridiculousness up a notch for Season 2 and made the plot revolve around poop and poop-related crimes. Yes, Catholic high school was hit with the Brown Out. Someone had laced the school’s lemonade with laxatives and what followed was a disgusting wave of poop that never made it to the toilet.
American Vandal did what it does best and focuses on the students of the school and their relationships with each other, rather than making it solely about the poop. AV is at its best when dealing with the harsh realities of being in high school in today’s modern age. This is what’s most intriguing about the show in both seasons.
Without giving anything away, AV Season 2 takes you on a wild journey while trying to figure out who the culprit is, whom they named The Turd Burglar. There is one suspect that the crime was pinned on, but not everyone is convinced that he did it.
AV Season 2 brings back our amateur sleuths, Peter and Sam, as they try to untangle the mystery of the Turd Burglar’s true identity. You can’t help but laugh at how seriously the people involved are taking the issue. The contrast between the ridiculous plot and the incredible depth of the writing is what makes American Vandal such a great show.
Verdict
I definitely recommend AV Seasons 1-2 to anyone who is a fan of comedy or true crime dramas. You’ll get the best of both worlds.
As for which is better, I thought it’d be hard to top the emotional ending of Season 1, but Season 2 of American Vandal really stuck the landing and almost makes you feel personally connected to the characters. I can honestly say that Season 2 is my favorite so far and I hope for more seasons to come.
