The Emerson Knives XHD-Commander in the Works!
Attention knife-nuts! Emerson Knives shared a small teaser for the upcoming XHD-Commander knife. As many of you probably know, Emerson releases an XHD knife about once a year and usually in a small quantity.

Today’s teaser was dropped via their Instagram Story and showed a very close-up shot of the knife, showing off its name and logo. This is all we got. BUT… I have a source and have found out some very cool information regarding the Emerson XHD-Commander.
From the picture they posted, we can see that there will be low serial numbers and also that the blades will be made from the popular S35VN steel, as opposed to Emerson’s default 154CM.
Of course, that only matters to you picky people!
What is an Emerson XHD Knife?
An Emerson XHD knife is just as it sounds- Xtra Heavy Duty. In the past, Emerson Knives has released the HMMV-K, XHD-7, and the XHD-Karambit. The base models of these knives are part of their regular production line (except for the HMMV-K), but the XHD versions are beefed up, bulked up, heavy duty versions of themselves. Aside from the HMMV-K, the XHD-Karambit and the XHD-7 both had the flipper tab added to the design.

The Emerson XHD-Commander
There will be a larger than usual run of the XHD-Commander than Emerson usually does with the XHD knives, but they’ll still be limited in quantity. As you know, Emerson likes to keep their numbers close to the vest.
Other than the bulk-up, the XHD-Commander will have flipper action. The standard Commander knives have not been introduced to the new flipping system that Emerson has been incorporating into their most popular models. So, the XHD-Commander will have more than just a beefier body.
They will also have those very cool thick G-10 handles that have a less aggressive grit than the standard models as well. Also on the knife will be all titanium hardware with hex screws, which Emerson is very picky on using.
As for release date? We’ll soon find out. But! As we all know, Emerson just loves to drop new knives on us out of the blue, keeping us on our toes. It’s possible that members of the Emerson Collectors Association will receive advanced notice as they have in the past. From my observation, Emerson usually drops knives relatively around the time they start posting about them. So hopefully we won’t have to wait long!
Excited? So are we!
